Do you want to take your students on the perfect November field trip? Why not try a virtual field trip to a Turkey Farm!?
Gobble Gobble! This November, I created these Google Slides for any teacher to take their students on a virtual field trip where they can learn about Turkeys, and what it's like to take care of them on a farm. Introduce your students to farm life and make those real world connections.
How you can use this with your students?
These google slides are easy to use. Once you open the slides you will have videos selected, and questions tailored to them. Included, are visuals, vocabulary and questions for students to apply for informative writing.
One way I love to use these slides is for my Thanksgiving unit. I always use Turkeys as my animal of study for November so I can embed this theme with reading, writing and science. I will usually spend two days on our slides and use the facts that we gathered from our field trip, to use in the weekly writing. You can easily make this writing an informative theme. For example, "write three facts about Turkeys".
If you are using this topic for opinion writing, you could go with the writing prompt such as, "In your opinion, does Farm life look fun"? or "would you want to be a turkey farmer and why or why not"?
Depending on your writing focus that week you can use these slides cross-curricular.
Heres a sneak peak of what you will see in this virtual field trip.
